The Rapids take on the Hudson's Bay Eagles on October 31st at John O’Rourke Field, after the game is over, expectations are on the rise for River as the playoffs approach. Running Back, Joey Ianello tells CR Sports, “I think it’s important we stick as a team once we first handle against Hudson’s Bay.” The boys are determined to make the playoffs—once Hudson’s Bay is taken care of they are looking to push forward. This is the second year in-a-row that the Rapids approach the post-season.
Head Coach Dewayne Patterson once told CR Sports that, “The River standard, in the program, is to make it to playoffs…” and with this year, it’s gonna put pressure on these players, they went with three wins in-a-row until their match-up against Washougal following their game on the 24th ending with a score of 27 to 48. Heading in, they need to coordinate and compromise with Patterson on what the best moves and formations are to use this year especially with their loss last year against Franklin Pierce in the playoffs ending that season.
The football program is getting ready as their biggest challenge is just upon the horizon, playing a second round and beyond in districts. If they continue this winning streak, it’ll be a historical year in the river football program.
