The Columbia River Boys’ Soccer Team is back on track after a tough loss to the Camas Papermakers.

(CR Sports) - The Rapids started off the season hot with a 8-0 mercy-rule victory over the Mark Morris Monarchs, followed by a 3-0 victory over the “Trap Defence Playing” Hudson’s Bay Eagles. River would then draw the Storm of Skyview 0-0 but proceed to go on a 6-game winning streak, including two additional 8-0 mercy-rule victories over both the Panthers of Washougal and Mark Morris. In their first 9 games of the season, the Rapids scored a whopping 39 goals while conceding just 2. (GF-4.3, GA-0.2) However this immaculate start to the year, would come to a screeching halt during a match against the Camas Papermakers. Camas would score to take a 1-0 lead in the first half, and River got the ball, put it on the center spot, and played like normal. But the Rapids’ emotions were running high at halftime and continued to do so into the second half. The Papermakers would tally on another goal in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory, giving Columbia River their first loss since the opening match of last season against the R.A. Long Lumberjacks.

Tensions stayed high within the team at River the next few days, and it showed in their game against Hudson’s Bay in which they struggled in the second half and only got away with a 4-2 win. But, a few days of practice and conversations from head coach Matt Newman, and the Rapids were set to play the Woodland Beavers in a game that couldn't have been set up any better. River trying to get back on track after a rough loss and struggle versus Bay. And Woodland, who gave the Rapids a scare earlier in the season in a 1-0 contest, and looking to knock them off this time.
