Girls slow pitch softball starts out the year undefeated and is looking to prove that they are championship contenders this week.
-------- Sports Mom Photos
Last season, the girls started off their league play 6-1 and outscored their opponents 124-40. By the end of the regular season, they had had a total record of 14-3 and won their last postseason game 31-10 to take fourth place in state.
These past two years have started very similarly for the team and show the potential that this team has to make another deep playoff run. They have three big games coming up this week and are looking to prove themselves as contenders.
Their first game is tomorrow against R.A. Long who are currently 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 33-11. Then, on Wednesday they play River’s rival, Skyview. The Storm are 3-0 and have had several convincing wins. Lastly, on Thursday they take on Union who are only 1-0 but won their game by 20 points.
In the past couple of seasons, River has had success against all of these teams except for R.A. Long. The girls are looking to reverse history this week and continue their dominating start to the season with a win tomorrow over R.A. Long. A win in that game would also give them momentum going into the rest of the week and going into the rest of the season.
