BOYS VOLLEYBALL
River Boys Volleyball defeated Skyview 2-1 in the annual VPS Foundation charity game.

Going into the game, River was looking to get their revenge on Skyview after falling short to them last year. River, coached by the senior girl volleyball players, had been practicing for the game for around a month and never looked back when the game started.
Unlike a traditional volleyball game, in which the winner must win three sets to win the game, this game was only three sets, meaning that a team only had to win two sets to win the game.
River started out the game strong and won the first set 25-15, and they could have easily won it by more considering most of the points that Skyview won during the set came from River mistakes.
This left River in a prime position to win the second set and get the win, which they did 25-11.
However, in the third set, Skyview flipped the tide and defeated River 25-17. Nonetheless, the game ended in a 2-1 River victory.
The game was also a win for the VPS Foundation as it raised over $300 to support its efforts.
After the game, Nico Ricardo (one of River’s star players) and Sydney Dreves (the team’s head coach) gave their thoughts on the game and the work that went into it as a whole.
“This was our revenge match,” Ricardo explained. “It just felt amazing to completely destroy them.” Ricardo also described that a big reason why they won was because they “locked in” during their last few practices.
