Boy's tennis wins nearly every bracket at sub-districts and now prepares for bi-districts later this week.
-------- CR Boys Tennis
Columbia River Sophomore, Lucas Walburn, came into the tournament as the first overall seed and was able to defend that position as he took first place for singles, defeating Andrew Walczyk of Fort Vancouver, in the championship match. Additionally, for the consolation singles tournament, River Senior, Ixiz Chu, took home second place.
For the doubles side of the tournament, Columbia River Seniors, Fuller Beyer and Trenton Sarvela, took first place in spite of being ranked as the third seed going into the tournament. Also, for the consolation doubles tournament, River yet again took home the win, with Junior, Nathan Little, and Senior, Cameron Harris coming back on Friday after being eliminated from the tournament on Thursday.
Overall, the Boy’s Tennis team has achieved a lot this season, and sub-districts only adds to their long list of accomplishments. Next week, however, is arguably more important as the team heads to the bi-district tournament which determines who plays at the state tournament in the spring. The tournament starts on Wednesday at the Steamboat Tennis Center in Olympia and ends on Thursday. If you know someone who is playing in the tournament, make sure to wish them good luck as they fight for a spot in state.
