(CR Sports) - On Tuesday, March 19th, our Track and Field squad competed against Ridgefield High School and Hockinson High School at River’s home stadium. With this being the first regular season league meet of the year the competition was fierce, but River’s Boys defeated both Ridgefield and Hockinson convincingly with outstanding performances from Revac Banfield, Jacob Mcmanus, and John Reeder, while River’s Girls placed first defeating Hockinson and surmounting Ridgefield as well with great achievements from the athletes Gina Lungwitz, Ainsley Morrisey, and Logan Dejong.For the Boys, Revac Banfield placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.64 placing him in an incredible first place in the entire state of Washington. Meanwhile, Jacob Mcmanus placed first in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs with great performances in each. Thirdly, John Reeder leaped up the leaderboards for Washington State 2A with a triple jump distance of 41’ 11.5” placing him first overall for the meet and second in the 2A standings. Also, the boy’s 4x100 relay placed second in at the meet placing them 5th overall in 2A Washington State.For the Girls, Gina Lungwitz placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.34, Ainsley Morrisey placed first in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:31.77, and Logan Dejong placed first with an incredible start to the season throwing the discus 109’ 2” which places her third overall in the entirety of 2A Washington state competition. Finally, the girl’s 4x200 relay time places them third overall in 2A Washington State.
Overall, we look forward to a bright season of Track and Field ahead for all of us as they continue to compete well throughout the rest of the season.
