Macey Chenette weighs in on the girls gymnastics team's season heading into the future.

From the start of the season, Junior, Macey Chenette explained that the team has progressed greatly, especially over the past few weeks and winter break. “We didn’t have any competitions for about 2-3 weeks,” she explained. “That gave us a lot of time to focus in on our practices,” “everyone got [in] the flow [of things] and started working hard every day.”
However, as the second half of the season is underway, there are some things the team is looking to do to end the year on a high note. Chenette explained that the team has been working on their performance routines, specifically in floor and beam, to help improve their skills, and in turn, boost their scores during meets.
Chenette believes that they should and will keep working on this to help get as many of River’s gymnasts to state as possible (her goal for the team). “Consistency and working hard” every day at practice will also be pivotal for the team heading into the future, as Chenette believes that they already have the skills, they just need to be able to perform at a high level, consistently.
“I think what makes our team really special is that we have such a diverse group of girls,” Chenette told. “We have girls who have never done gymnastics before, [some] who have 8+ years of gymnastics experience, and we have girls who have done it [just] for a couple [of] years. [Yet], overall, everyone is at their own [level] and we are all super supportive of each other, no matter where [we] are at.” “We’re… a family.”
