The Girls Basketball team, led by senior Paige Johnson, has done nothing but dominate to start their season. Sitting at 8-1 in league, the girls have scored 57.7 Points per game, while only allowing 38.2 points per game. After a historic 2023 season where the girls took 1st in league, they are looking to replicate that success in 2024. Even after the loss of their head coach, the girls haven’t missed a beat. “It’s definitely been a smooth transition.”
Sophomore Gracie Glavin says, “Tee is definitely changing the culture here.” Tee’s (the head coach’s) intense mindset has been one of the main factors of the team’s outstanding start. “One of the keys to our success has definitely been hard practices.” As the girls look to finish off strong with a league title, they hope to maintain their success through consistency. “We just gotta stay locked in, playing for each other. It all comes down to who wants it more.”
The Boys Basketball team has also started off the season with a bang. They currently sit at 2nd in league, with a league record of 6-2, and a win over number 1 Mark Morris. After dropping games to R.A. Long and Ridgefield, the team will look to get back to what works best and win out. Now on their 3rd head coach in three years, the boys are glad to finally see a successful season.
“It just feels good to finally put it together. We knew we had the talent, we just needed to put it all together.” Senior captain Adam Reeder says, “This has been in the works for 3 years, and the time is finally now.” The boys are looking ahead of the regular season, and hope to make some noise come time for state. “We can definitely make a run in the tournament, and win it if I’m being honest. We have all the tools we need.”
