The boys defeated Skyview 3-0 to extend their win streak to three games against the Storm in the past three years.

The first half did not see much action to begin the game. River dominated possession, but could not seem to put one away despite having many opportunities. Skyview also had a few goal-scoring opportunities from corner kicks but did not put one in the net.
It seemed that neither team would score to end the half. However, that was before a foul by Skyview set up a River free-kick in the Rapid’s half. Center-back Carver Taylor took the free kick and hit the ball about 60 yards which led to chaos in the penalty box. River’s Fidel Banuelos got the ball at his feet but his shot was saved by Skyview’s goalkeeper. The save led to a rebound goal opportunity that was knocked in by attacker Tyler Brown to give River a 1-0 lead going into the half.
Then, during much of the second half, there were many near-goals by both teams. The Skyview offense put more pressure on River’s backline and they had a couple of close opportunities off of corner kicks. Despite this, River’s midfield did an excellent job of distributing the ball through passing lanes which allowed River many scoring opportunities as well.
The game was under 20 minutes and it was still 1-0 River. When it seemed there may not be another goal, River’s Alex Pont knocked in a goal after Skyview could not clear the ball out of their goalie box. This grew River’s lead to 2-0 and seemed to end any Skyview hope of a comeback.
Just minutes later, River’s Carver Taylor scored from range after Skyview failed to fully clear the ball from a corner kick. The ball went bottom left and had no chance of being saved. This grew River’s lead to 3-0 and iced off another Boys River Soccer victory against Skyview.
River plays again tomorrow against Fort Vancouver. The game is at home at 7 p.m. Make sure you come and show some support. Great job and good luck, boys!
