Students make a difference through Red Cross Club initiatives that serve the community
-------- CR News
The purpose of the club is to get youth involved in the Red Cross and their community. Naomi Axelrod says “Red Cross Club is to help them [Red Cross] achieve their mission statement.” This opens the doors for younger volunteers to learn more about the Red Cross and get volunteer experience. The Red Cross Club also hosts blood drives twice a school year. These blood drives provide necessary donations to hospitals, which are frequently low on blood. For NHS and IB students, the club provides an opportunity to gain volunteer hours for the program. Overall, the club allows students to participate in volunteer activities in an environment that is more welcoming to new volunteers and hosts events that provide necessary resources for the community.
The Red Cross Club meets every other Monday in Ms. McAnally’s room (610) after school.
