NHS induction ceremony recognizes academic achievement and gives students the chance to give back to their community

Sakow explains NHS is a “national organization that recognizes students for their service, character, leadership, and scholarship.” It’s an exclusive organization in which students need to have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. If you meet the candidacy requirements, Savannah Reynolds tells CR News “the faculty council decides if you are in or not.” Sakow says that the first action they will take is to help clean up the stadium and field after the homecoming game this Friday.
Reynolds emphasizes the importance of the National Honor Society, “because it’s so prestigious and it’s specifically student-led,” which she says allows “students of all ages and all backgrounds to take on a leadership role that they might not have anywhere else.” Reynolds adds NHS “recognizes the work that they have put in their Freshman and Sophomore years.” Sakow believes “if we are gifted and we’ve been successful, we should pay it forward to others.”
