(CR News) - Cass Campbell (they/them) is Columbia River’s new graphic design, photography, and yearbook teacher. As a media arts teacher, they work with the general aspects of media, such as the elements of design, composition, applied principles, and legal specifications. In high school, Campbell was “behind [their] peers when it came to technology” and learned media professionally and technically from a student job as a freshman in college. They went on to work at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga training students, staff, and faculty in media competency. Campbell is grateful to give the same opportunities to students.
Campbell’s move to River “has been chaotic” however, they enjoy “being back in the right zone career-wise”. They say “the staff [has been] awesome and the students are great”, but believe the culture of tolerance and respect could be improved. Since their arrival, Campbell has been active in the school community, such as heading the advisory for River’s GSA Club._____________________________________
