Take a look at the work that went into making the poster and what it's about
-------- Talan Collins / CR News
Featuring a ribbon design involving red paint handprints, students added sticky notes describing ways to “be kind to your mind,” this year’s Red Ribbon theme. Some ideas were to “bake or cook your favorite meal,” “watch your favorite movie or TV show,” and to “spend time with loved ones.” Members also wore red to school on Thursday, and created Red Ribbon pins to be worn on their shirts and backpacks.
With inspiration from HOSA’s social media managers, the project’s planning and execution was led by the club’s president, Ashlye Triebs, who helped bring in the supplies for decorating the poster board. She told CR News that “the whole point of [the] project [was] to create awareness in our school about drug-use” while putting a focus on this year’s theme.
Connor Johnson also contributed to the organization of HOSA’s first project this year, which he says is about “getting things started and showing people what HOSA can do.” He described how the club struggled to get going last year, explaining that the club “didn’t have any events or anything,” and now he and Triebs are “getting HOSA started back up.” He encouraged any students who are interested in pursuing health-related careers to join their efforts. @River_HOSA meets in Mrs. Chili’s room every other Thursday.
