Rapid Response is based on Response to Intervention (RTI), an opportunity for teachers to address students’ struggles and achievements.
The delay for Rapid Response this year was due to the careful planning process from teachers and staff in order to make it “more user friendly”. A committee worked on schedules for this year’s Rapid Response, which will be tied to students’ second period class on Mondays, for now.
Columbia River principal, Alex Otoupal, stated, “The district move to a later start for high schools this fall changed our long established routines. We do our best to build consensus for making informed decisions. Faculty committees have been meeting and discussing and planning for the return of Rapid Response on November 6.”
In response to this year’s delay, Ken Roberts says, “We wanted to make sure that the way we ran [Rapid Response] had a shared commitment amongst teachers and administration to serve students”.
