Needless to say, Alex Harris has been a huge factor in River’s success this season, as they continue their undefeated season with one regular season game left today, at Washougal High School.
On Saturday, the team will play in the district quarterfinals against the winner of a pigtail game on Thursday. The game is the start of the postseason for River, which last year did not end up the way the team wanted it to. No one wants the same results from last year, and the team under Harris will attempt to win its first state championship since 2018.
Alex Harris though, despite his successes on the field, also has had a lot of success in the classroom. Alex will be attending Cornell University next year to both: play soccer and major in Industrial Engineering.
Last Tuesday, Cameron Harris, Alex Harris’s brother, told CRTV Live viewers that Alex Harris would have a great balance between both his collegiate career and his academics in the classroom. This is no surprise with the number of goals he has scored (111) and also being in the top 5% of his class for grades.
Harris on and off the field has been an inspiration to many, especially many people on the team with both his grades and his performance on the pitch.
On Senior Night, last Thursday against Hockinson, he devoted a lot of his success to his teammates and his coaches: Matt Newman and Filomon Afenegus. There is no doubt that the team will also miss Alex Harris not only because of the player he has been but because of the legacy he has created.
Here at CR News, we would like to congratulate Harris and wish him good luck going into the playoffs and his collegiate career at Cornell University.
