Then, last Thursday River played R.A. Long, and also won a hard and tough battle, 3-0. On Saturday, River took on Ridgefield, and it was River’s head coach, Matt Newman against his own dad, Brian Newman. The winner of the game would win a trophy, that will be passed between the winner of the two sides from now on, starting the father and son rivalry. The game started close, but River pulled away in the second half and took a 5-1 win and the trophy that they hope to reclaim when they play Ridgefield again later this year.
Lastly, yesterday, lot of hype because River took on Skyview. The game was played at Kiggins Bowl, and despite the game not counting for league play, both played for pride and brought their “A” games. The game was a nail-biter, and despite a rough first half from River, and pressure from Skyview, River won 2-1.
